Reflection:

Wow! The story of Ananias going to Saul is amazing. It shows complete trust in God and the willingness to spread the Gospel no matter who you have to share it with. Ananias was completely obedient by going to Saul – a murderer! But that obedience led to an amazing outcome… What is God asking of you to be obedient in this year?

To close out this series and this 5-week challenge, I wanted to help you dive a little deeper into our sermon this past Sunday by asking you to read the passage below, giving you a word of encouragement, and then challenging you to reflect on some questions.

It is easy to stress out when thinking about God’s purpose for your life. Many people would say they have no idea what God wants them to do. I believe a great place to start to understand this is by discovering your purpose in the church and for the church. Pause here and go read Matthew 28:18-20 and 1 Corinthians 12 before you finish reading this. You see, Jesus’ authority, your God-given abilities, and the Holy Spirit gift(s) are a necessity to fulfill the vision God has for you in His church. You might be thinking one of two things:

1. I don’t have what it takes: Actually, you do. Jesus has all power and authority and He is giving that to you to accomplish the mission of the church. Peter tells us this: “God has given each of you a gift [abilities/strengths] from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” (1Peter 4:10) Keyword: “each” person has a gift! God’s word is not wrong. Be encouraged today that God has created you with a gift and given you authority to make a difference, even if you don’t see it yet, I promise you that it is there.

2. I don’t know my gift: That is totally fine. Take some time in prayer and introspection and ask God to show you your uniqueness and how you can use it to fulfill your purpose.

Now, remember, Peter just said that EACH person has a gift and that gift is meant to be USED to serve one another. The greatest way to operate in your gifting and abilities is by serving your local church. The local church is God’s rescue plan to win more souls for Heaven right now. It’s the big vision fulfillment of Matthew 28:18-20. If you aren’t serving yet, sign up to start helping at Ridgley and reach the vision God has called us to!

Can’t wait to find out your gift. My guess is we’ve already noticed it in you!
